Nothing in life is a straight line. I realized that, with my past experience, I have to advocate for myself.
So self-advocacy came right in place when I reconnected with myself. I realized because my care plan wasn’t personalized.
I have to take matters in my own hands. So then that’s when I said to myself, “You know what? I know what I need.” I always say, “I have a seat at the table,” which I didn’t feel like they think I should be.
I speak up and speak out.
